FORT SMITH, Ark. – Alton Jones, a native of Lorena, Texas has to be a favorite to win the 2018 Bassmaster Classic. Not only did Jones win the Classic on Hartwell 10 years ago, Jones has 18 prior Bassmaster Classics under his belt and is a six-time B.A.S.S. Elite tournament winner.
In the 2008 Classic, Jones fought back from a 10th place position after Day 1 and finished with over 49 pounds during the three-day tournament. Jones was fishing a a prototype BOOYAH lure that is now known as BOOYAH Pigskin Jig. Jones has earned over two million dollars in his professional bass fishing career.
The 48th Bassmaster Classic returns to Greenville on March 16-18. The Bassmaster Classic hosts the Bassmaster Classic Outdoors Expo and the live weigh-ins draw thousands each day. The year also marks the 50th anniversary of B.A.S.S. so the event will be big.
