Angler’s of the Year dominate extremely tough field to take Coors Light Championship title

Proving that the Angler of the Year titles they earned from participating in last year’s Future Pro Tour competition was not just a “fluke”,  Matt Frazier and Anthony Souza, came into last weekend’s Coors Light Delta Open Teams Championship event with guns-a-blazing and a “take no prisoners” attitude, as they dominated an extremely tough field of competitors with a total 2-day weight of 50.91 to win the 2nd annual invitational championship event presented by Cabral RAM of Manteca.

“It was a nerve racking weekend” noted Matt Frazier, as he commented on how the first days incredible 33.54 pound five-fish limit came relatively easy, in comparison to how they struggled on the final day of competition.

We couldn’t buy a bite until 9am - and even then, it was a grind to get the 17 pound bag we managed to bring in on the final day”. Matt and Anthony indicated that they used Yamamoto "Flappin Hawgs", to get their bed fish, and the River2Sea “Bully Wa” top water frog - in protected areas, to entice the rest of their fish to bite.

For their efforts they received two beautiful Coors Light Championship plaques, and the keys to a new RAM truck courtesy of Cabral RAM of Manteca.

The team of Acosta and Gutierrez took second place honors in this championship event using Snag Proof top water frogs – (the Ish’s "Phat Frog" series), and flipping Yamamoto Senko baits, to bag a two-day limit that weighed 47.34 pounds. For second place they pocketed $1,000 dollars.

Congratulations to the top teams, and to the entire field of anglers that qualified and participated in this 2nd annual invitational event, contributing to its huge success.
