BASS FISHING FAN WINS $10,000 PLAYING FLW FANTASY FISHING

MINNEAPOLIS – Gary McGlohorn of Batesburg, South Carolina, accumulated the most points of any Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) Fantasy Fishing player over the eight-event season to win the grand prize of $10,000. McGlohorn selected anglers and earned points in conjunction with eight FLW Tour events spanning from February to last week’s season-ending championship, the Forrest Wood Cup.

“I started playing FLW Fantasy Fishing five or six years ago, but this is the first year I stayed with it through the entire season,” said McGlohorn. “I had a rough start, but after three good tournaments I was back in it. That’s why it’s important to play all the way through the season. It only takes a few good finishes to be back in the running for some big money.”

McGlohorn also won $5,000 in May for assembling the highest-scoring team during the FLW Tour on the Mississippi River, bringing his total Fantasy Fishing winnings for 2017 to $15,000.

McGlohorn said he utilized the Member’s Advantage tools found on the FLW website to help him make his picks this season.

“I usually checked out the Pundit Picks and local finder to see who lived near the lakes,” said McGlohorn. “I mixed those anglers with guys who consistently fish well around the country – guys like Bryan Thrift and Andy Morgan. I also relied on the FLW website for each angler’s personal stats. That was a big part of my strategy.”

McGlohorn shared some advice for anyone looking to get started with FLW Fantasy Fishing in 2018.

“Whoever you pick first to be on your team, follow your gut and stick with them,” said McGlohorn. “If you change it last minute, it always seems to come back and bite you.”
