Boating App Tip #2: How to edit your map with Navionics

 

The Community Edits layer in the Navionics Boating App offers a great benefit to all boaters. Thanks to millions of our app users, who are continuously on the water, this amazing resource is constantly enhanced with valuable local information such as seasonal buoys, lights, rocks, moorings, boat ramps, and points of interest like restaurants and provisioning shops!
 
Turn the Community Edits layerON” in Menu>Settings to see all the contributions when you zoom in on the map. Start accessing this incredibly useful feature today! After discovering its value, you will want to join our community and contribute yourself. Here's how:
  • To add an object, target with the cross hair, then tap on “?”. Select “Edit Map” in the page that opens. If this is your first time, you will be prompted to register with Navionics, a safeguard to prevent against any misuse of the feature. Then, you will be offered to choose the appropriate category for the item.   
  • To modify an object, use the cross hair to target it and tap on “?”. Select it from the list, then choose “Edit” to change information, “Delete” to cancel it, “Move” to relocate it, and “Report Abuse” to signal a misuse of the tool.  

Inputs from the community can also be downloaded to a Navionics chart card and seen on compatible plotters!
