Saturday, Nov. 14 the CDFW Patrol Boat Marlin and marine units from several other law enforcement agencies including CHP and San Francisco Police Dept. set up a security and safety zone around a blast zone in San Francisco bay.
As the older section of the Bay Bridge is being removed CalTrans used explosives to remove the underwater pilings that have supported the bridge since its construction in 1933.
After the successful blast biologists from State and private conservation units pulled debris from the blast area and monitored the impact to wildlife in the immediate area.
