Corps Seeks Volunteers for Beaver Lake (AR) Cleanup

ROGERS, Ark. -- The Army Corps of Engineers Beaver Lake Project Office is looking for volunteers to join the Annual Beaver Lake Cleanup, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday Sept 26.

Volunteers should check-in by 8 a.m. at Prairie Creek, Hickory Creek, Rocky Branch, or Dam Site Lake parks. Volunteers will also receive a wrist band for admission to the post-cleanup festivities. The first 500 people to register will receive a free cleanup t-shirt.

Trash bags will be furnished to all participants at each check-in station, but volunteers are asked to bring your own gloves.

The shoreline of Beaver Lake can be very rocky and steep; volunteers are encouraged to wear boots or other appropriate footwear for your trek along the shoreline.
Volunteers who have access to a boat are encouraged to bring it to transport their families and friends or help with transportation of other volunteers who do not have boats. Participants who help transport other volunteers or trash will receive an appreciation bag of giveaways.

At noon a free lunch will be provided to volunteers at the Prairie Creek Park grand shelter. After lunch door prizes will be given away.

If you want to clean a favorite area of Beaver Lake, call Park Ranger Alan Bland at 501-340-1705 before the cleanup and sign up for a specific lake area.

An annual Beaver Lake Cleanup tradition is looking for the most unusual piece of trash will continue again this year. The winner will be announced after lunch. This tradition is a fun part of the cleanup, as you never know what you find in the lake or along its shoreline.

Cleanup sponsors include: Benton County Solid Waste District, Coca Cola of Arkansas, Republic Services, and Flip Putthoff.
