First Look: New from Yo-Zuri | Duel

Yo-Zuri and Duel are from the same parent company in Japan and are well respected for their fresh and saltwater hardbaits.  They have a full line of everything from jerkbaits to saltwater squid jigs.  They are now increasing lineup of swimbaits as well as introducing new braided and fluorocarbon lines.

Duel Hardcore Twitch'n Ninja Glider

This glide bait was released at the Bassmaster Classic earlier this year and has become very popular.  The biggest benefit to this bait is the price. While similar baits can easily cost over $100, the Ninja Glider retails for just $37.99. However, don’t let the lower price fool you, these are quality baits at any price.

The bait itself is 180mm or seven inches long.  It weighs in at 2 5/8 ounces and comes in ten different colors to match a variety of baitfish.  The glide bait has a great “S” action as it moves side-to-side just under the surface or as deep as you want to fish the slow-sinking bait.

Like all good glide baits, it will perform a 180-degree turn with a slight twitch of the rod to get following bass to strike.  It is well-built bait and features a solid fish, durable hinges and replaceable rubber tail.

Yo-Zuri pros like Clent Davis have been using the bait all season long and have caught many fish on them.  Talking with him, he was very excited about this bait and recommends the Gizzard Shad and Bone colors as good all around choices.

Duel Hardcore Ninja Swimmer

The Ninja Swimmer looks almost identical to the Ninja Glider, except for the bill at the front of the bait.  This allows the bait to have a much different action near the surface.

It is a floating bait and a little lighter than the glide bait version (2 1/8-ounces), but the same length.  It will dive down just below the surface and has a unique rolling action to trigger bites. Currently it will be available in nine different colors.

The bait, like the Glider version, features 3-D eyes, black-nickel Japanese treble hooks and solid construction throughout.

Duel Hardcore Super 8 Braid

Duel’s new Super 8 braided line gets it’s name from the eight strands that come together to create it. It is a specially coated line made in Japan that is very thin.  The line comes on 150-yard spools and is available in both camo and white.

It feels soft, but is a round braid designed for abrasion resistance and easy casting. Duel says this line also helps to reduce line friction and noise of the braid going through your rod guides.

The braid has low stretch like all braids, but is smooth and easy handling on both spinning and baitcast gear.  It is available in sizes from 10lb all the way up to 65lb test.

Yo-Zuri Top Knot 100% Fluorocarbon

The new fluorocarbon from Yo-Zuri is made in Japan and used by Yo-Zuri pros Clent Davis, Mike Surman and Braxton Setzer.  It was designed to work well on both baitcast and spinning reels. One of the best qualities of this line is the abrasion resistance. It is available in 200 yards and in sizes from 6lb up to 20lb test.

Another key benefit of the Top Knot fluorocarbon is the low price. A spool will retail between $11.99 and $13.99 depending on the line size.  While it is a lower priced line, you will not lose any quality.  It is thin compared to some other brands and said to have a low memory and limp feel for excellent manageability.

Yo-Zuri Superbraid

Available in both blue and dark green, Yo-Zuri’s Superbraid gets those colors from a unique coloring process that reduces fading.  The line is available in 150 and 300-yard spools.   Retail cost for the new braid ranges from $12.99 - $34.99 depending on spool size and pound test, making it a very good value.

It is said to be extremely strong, easy casting and durable. The Yo-Zuri Superbraid is made with either four strands or eight strands depending on the line size.  Lines that are between 10- to 40-lb test are four strands and the 50-80lb is made up of eight strands.

Yo-Zuri and Duel are well known for their hardbaits, but have a big selection of line as well.  The new fluorocarbon and braids they have released this year are built to be top-quality at a much lower price than you may be used to spending. Their swimbait lineup from Duel continues to grow and they have impressed the pros and weekend anglers alike.
