Future Pro Tour heads to the California Delta

So.... you’re a “Delta Rat” are ya? You just love the musty smell of the freshly turned produce fields, and the easy way the tulles sway when them Delta breezes kick in don’t you?...don't you! If you are - based on the previously stated criteria - a bonafide “Delta Rat” then you will want to be in on the fun to be had when the Future Pro Tour comes to the beautiful California Delta Saturday, Aug 16th at Brannon Island!

Going into the stretch in what has been a fantastic 7-event season, some of the best amateur anglers in the west will show up in force on this huge waterway to compete for cash and prizes in what has become the largest and most exciting amateur circuit in the west!

Dead serious about getting the opportunity to compete for this year’s Future Pro Tour Classic championship title, many anglers will bring their best efforts to the table in hopes of acquiring the points necessary to earn for themselves a berth in the monumental event scheduled for November 15th and 16th on Folsom Lake and the California Delta. In this year-end two-day event, the 2003 Future Pro Classic champions will receive a new vehicle from Peoples Folsom Lake/Stockton – Chrysler-Jeep-Nissan-Hyundai-Isuzu dealership valued at up to $15,000!

Also up for grabs this year is the Lucky Craft/Future Pro Tour - Angler’s of the Year title, which carries a limited 1-year sponsorship from this premier hard-bait manufacturer. Future Pro Tour Angler’s of the Year also receive a limited 1-year sponsorship from Reaction Innovations; makers of the Dominator series bait (the bait that won Robert Lee his 4th consecutive B.A.S.S title), and paid entry fees into the 2004 tour!

“Dock Talk” has it that the Delta bite has been tough lately with the infamous “Dog Days of Summer” in full effect. However, as any good Delta Rat knows…the bite on the delta can change faster than you can lose a skin-hooked five-pound fish at the net! With water temps climbing, sources say that you can get a few big ones on top in the morning, but you better find some current when the heat of the day rolls around. To help you plan your strategy, the following tides will prevail on tournament day (Aug 16th):

Low Tide - 1:47 am – 1.2
High Tide – 7:05 am – 3.8
Low Tide – 1:48 pm - 0.3
High Tide – 8:05 pm – 4.0

(Moon Phase: Appx 1 week past the last full moon)

As many of you know, the Future Pro Tour is not only committed to providing a tournament that offers a fun yet competitive environment, but is also committed to our mission statement of being a “Great Place To Learn”. To this end, we are extremely pleased to announce that our pre-registration seminar will be hosted by none other than the “Delta Guru” himself – Andy “Cooch” Cuccia. Andy is no stranger to anyone – especially those that frequent the California Delta. He is without a doubt, the master of the jig bait, and has perhaps forgotten more about the Delta than most people know!

And don’t be fooled. Andy’s fishing prowess extends well beyond the rip-rap and tule confines of the California Delta. Last year, Andy scored BIG and won his first boat at the prestigious B.A.S.S Western Open on Lake Oroville, knockin’ off some pretty good split-shottin sticks! So don’t you “worm-draggers” go thinkin he’s ALL Delta Rat!

OPTIONAL pre-registration, for this event will be held at the Peoples Stockton – Nissan-Jeep-Isuzu dealership off Hammer Lane - 3131 Auto center Cir, Stockton – (209-957-4867) on Friday Aug 15th, and will be from 5pm-7pm. Food and drinks will be provided for seminar attendees so bring your youngsters if you have to! EVERYONE is invited to participate in this seminar, even if you DO NOT FISH the Future Pro Tour circuit…so come on out give Cooch your support!

Remember… if you sign-up for this event at the OPTIONAL pre-registration seminar, all late fees will be waived. You can, of course, sign up the day of the event at the Brannon Island launch ramp the morning of the event. Registration begins at 3:30am.

For those of you that have never fished a Future Pro Tour event, call the Future Pro Tour office for details about trial memberships in the Future Pro Tour. We can’t guarantee that you will catch fish - but we can guarantee that you will have a great time and meet some of the nicest group of guy and gals ever!

Remember this is a 6-hour event and the flights will be in early so your line to the “significant other” can be that you will be gone fishing in the morning and be back early enough to take her shopping with the money your gonna win! (HAR!)

See you all there!!!!!!
