HookNUp Fishing Tournament | Compete from anywhere!

Don’t have a boat? Have to work on the weekends? Don’t have much extra money? These are just a few barriers for people who want to fish tournaments but can’t enter them.

There is a tournament going on right now that anyone can enter and compete in any day of the week. They have a chance to win thousands of dollars in prizes without a large entry fee.

Competitors can fish from shore, kayak, boat or any other method. It is called the HookNUp Fishing Tournament.

You may remember when it was announced at the Lowrance booth at ICAST.

How Much Does it Cost to Enter?

The entry fee is just $25. Included in the entry fee is a long-sleeved shirt of either a bass or a redfish.

They also send you a decal that is your tournament token for photos as well as a sticker that doubles as a ruler for measuring your entries. Once registered, the first step is to download the free GoFree Hooked App.

How it Works

After downloading the app and completing your profile you can register for the tournament through the email enrollment link you received for the HookNUp fishing tournament.

The GoFree Hooked app is your official scoring system and each fish must be logged into the app with a photo. The photo must include the token you received when signing up to verify it was caught during the event. The photo will also show the measuring board, which is the official scoring system for prizes.

This event scores bass on total length as shown in the photos. Your three longest bass will be counted for prizes.

One of the great things about this event is that it is open until December 15th. It is already running but it is not too late to get in.

What Can I Win?

Of course if you enter a tournament you would like the chance to win something. The HookNUp Fishing Tournament is put together by some of the best fishing brands in the industry including Lowrance, River2Sea, Bass Mafia, and more. Best of all is that you can win multiple times.

Prizes are separated in three categories, bi-weekly, monthly and overall grand prize.  1st, 2nd and 3rd are awarded for contestants who bring in the three longest fish caught and submitted. The grand prize is a Lowrance Hook7 fish finder, the monthly prizes are a rod and reel combo. The bi-weekly prizes are gear packs from the tournament sponsors.

Charity

One more positive of this contest is the fact that five charities benefit from this tournament. Your $25 entry includes $5 that will be donated to the charity that you select. Catch A Dream, Friends in Survival and Hope, Freedom Fighter Outdoors, Reel Healing and Team Maggie for a Cure are the choices. When you register you are instructed to select one of them and most of them are directly involved with fishing and the outdoors.

Rules and Measuring

Of course a tournament is going to have some rules. The complete list of rules can be found here.

As with all tournaments, contestants should read through them completely to ensure they are within the rules. This tournament is unlike many others and the scoring of fish, measuring devices that can be used and how fish can be caught are things that all contestants should be aware of.

Since this format relies on the photos you submit through the GoFree Hooked app, it is vital that photos are taken correctly so the measurements can be verified.

They have outlined exactly what they are looking for here  along with examples of correct and incorrect photo submissions. The main things are to not obstruct any part of the fish, have the token visible in the photo and that the measurements are clearly shown at the tail of the fish.

The HookNUp fishing tournament is unlike many others as it is a national, multi-species tournament that can be done whenever you have a chance to hit the water. The low-cost entry form and chance to win big prizes, all while helping a charity makes this a very fun event.
