Ice Fishing Workshop with DWR

FARMINGTON — You can learn the basics of ice fishing at a free clinic on Dec. 10.

Staying warm and comfortable on the ice, the type of fishing gear you'll need, and how to get on the ice and drill a hole, are among the basics you'll learn.

Clint Brunson, an avid ice angler who also serves as a fisheries biologist with the Division of Wildlife Resources, will share tips and tricks that will help you catch more fish in northern Utah. The clinic, which is sponsored by Cabela's, is free. It runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cabela's store in Farmington, 391 N. Cabela's Dr.

Phil Douglass, regional conservation outreach manager for the DWR, says the seminar is open to anyone who has an interest in ice fishing. "If you're a beginning angler," he says, "the clinic will give you the confidence you need to gather your gear and hit the ice. If you're an experienced angler, you should pick up some tips that will help you catch more fish."

Douglass says Brunson will share tips to help you catch fish at waters across northern Utah. "Clint is not only a great angler," Douglass says, "he's a good listener. He truly loves helping people have a safe and enjoyable time on the ice."
