Pending World Record spotted bass update: Lure finally revealed

Dulleck holds a pair of Dirty Jigs Finesse footballs rigged with a Double Tail Grub by Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits

Today, Nick Dulleck of San Jose, Calif. revealed the lure used in his 11-pound, 4-ounce, potential world record spotted bass catch from New Bullards Bar Reservoir on Feb. 12, 2017.

In prevous reports, Dulleck had not shared the lure that tempted his double-digit spot; however today, he leaked a little info with a photo of the rigging. Dulleck credits a Dirty Jigs Finesse Football Jig equpped with a Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits Double Tail Grub for the trailer. At this point, the color of the jig and soft plastic as well as the jig size still remain a mystery as Dulleck is not yet ready to divulge the remaining deets.

Currently, Dulleck's bass is pending certification with the International Game Fish Assocaition (IGFA) and the California Department of Fish & Game (CDFW). "I am working with Jack Vitek at the IGFA," said Dulleck. "He's a great guy and great to work with. I expect to hear back in around 60 days, which would be in mid-April."

The scale used to weigh the Bullard's spot has been certified post-weighing by the IGFA.

Following the "dry land" weighing, measurements and documentation, Dulleck's bass was released back into the lake.

"Many people think you have to kill the fish for the world record, when in fact, catch and release is acceptable and I'm proud to have released the fish to continue reproducing and guarding the lake," added Dulleck.

Dulleck's catch took 64 seconds to land. Adam McAndrews served as the netman for the giant spot. He also manned the scale as the weighmaster for documentation.

Word on the water is ... a  full cast-to-catch video may surface in the future.
