Some of the best striped bass fishing in a long, long time

This fall, East Coast anglers experienced some of the best striped bass fishing in a long, long time.

That's Some Fish
On April 26, 2015 long-time tagging member Bill Schillingford (a.k.a. Bucktail Willie) tagged and released a 23" striped bass in Strathmere, NJ back-bay waters.

Just over a year later, the now 26" striper was recaptured on
July 30, 2016 by angler Mike Lupien, in New Castle, NH at the mouth of the Piscataqua River.

This fish traveled over 290 nautical miles from tag to recapture location, in addition to all the traveling it did in between.

Sharing fish tales is fun.

But more than fun, our tagging members are confident their angling and tagging activity aids fisheries scientists in making informed decisions to best manage precious fish populations and resources. Our data is shared annually with the National Marine Fisheries Service at Woods Hole, MA.
