SAN ANTONIO, Texas - On January 13, 2015, collegiate anglers
nationwide will be able to register for the first Cabela's
Collegiate Bass Fishing Series event of the 2015 season - the Cabela's Collegiate Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley. The
event will be held on Kentucky Lake, which has hosted numerous collegiate
series events over recent years.
The Cabela's Collegiate Bass Fishing Series will kick
off the 2015 season with one of the most diverse fishing tournaments in college
fishing. The Cabela's Collegiate Big Bass Bash offers
every competitor the chance to win among eight total weigh-ins. The tournament,
which is based out of Paris Landing in Henry County, Tennessee, will consist of
a two-day, individual big bass format with weigh in sessions every two hours of
each competition day.
"This is one of the most enjoyable collegiate events of the season to be a
part of," said the Director of the Collegiate Series and President of CarecoTV, Wade Middleton. "It's open to all college
anglers, counts double towards Cabela's School of
Year points and a single cast can win someone a prize! Last year the amount of
prizes that we awarded exceeded $20,000.00.
Prizes will be awarded for the ten (10) heaviest bass weighed during each
session along with a daily prize for the overall heaviest bass weighed each
tournament fishing day AND additional prizes will be awarded for the overall
heaviest bass of the event. Over $5,000.00 in Cabela's
gift cards alone will be awarded at the event in addition to numerous other
prizes from companies like Garmin, Hydrowave, Yamaha,
Ranger Boats, Costa, FroggToggs, Mustang, and many
others.
Additionally Berkley and Abu Garcia will be providing prizes including: Large
Berkley tackle packs, Berkley Emotion rods, and Abu Garcia Revo
and Orra reels.
"Big Bass events, with hourly weigh-in formats are wildly popular,"
stated Chris Hockley, Berkley Brand Marketing Director. "We're proud to be
the presenting sponsor of the Cabela's Collegiate Big
Bass Bash which allows us to bring the excitement and winning opportunities
specifically to collegiate anglers. There are some great prizes to be won and
in these events, the camaraderie nearly always equals the
competitiveness."
"This event is a great tournament to start off the 10th Anniversary of the
Cabela's Collegiate Bass Fishing Series,"
Middleton added, "and we are looking forward to making this season the
largest and most competitive yet!"
