Contact Jeremy at C&C Marine in Citrus Heights, he is a wealth of knowledge and will help you with what you need to order etc.... My buddy repowered his 94' Ranger w/150 blackmax to a 175 Opti last year and he LOVES it....

I just put a 175 mercy on my 95 ranger 482vs. Rigging was about $3000. I had to get new controls an I opted for the smart craft gauge. Well worth it. Shop around for a motor cause the dealerships vary in price. Shoot me a pm if u have anymore questions

I went through Jeremy at C&C Marine in Citrus Heights to re-power my '01 Ranger with a new PRO XS last fall. Do you like the boat enough to spend that kind of money? I did, and the incentive program from Mercury Marine was another reason to replace instead of rebuild. When it was done I took my old one home strapped to a pallet the new one came on. It took four days to sell.

I put an 04 Mercury 225 on my old 1996 Astro. Pretty much just plug and play. I'm not sure if you go newer than that.

Yeah, put a new Pro xs on a 97' 488vs and the transom fell off. Wouldn't advise it

Mike,

Was the Astro having hull problems, was it too much power and weight, what do you think was the issue?
