Cleark Lake end of March

Post by kensnider »

I know this question is asked often and thanks in advance for any information you are willing to share. Going to Clear lake to fish for the first time with most all of my bass fishing be for spots in Shasta, a little large mouth fishing in a small local lake out of Yreka. Have a cabover camper on a pickup pulling a 184 Champion boat. Looking for a RV campground to park, general area where to fish and what to bring and what not to bring. Going in blind and looking for help. Thanks again

rv park at konocti vista casino in Lakeport ,edgewater resort in Kelseyville, aurora in Nice
State park is nice but not full hookups.
End of March depending on weather is when fish will start spawning.Lake didnt clear up enough to do much bed fishing last two years.
North end has been fishing better than the south end

I'd stay at Konocti vista casino. You can keep your boat in the water at their marina. They have security full time a store, gas, and a restaurant and full bar.

Some thoughts

Clear Lake is a harder lake to pattern for the spawn. It is a bit higher elevation at near 1400 feet and often experiences many different weather patterns from March thru the end of May. It has a major coastal weather influence. The bass are often found in the shallows during a warm spell in late March and then driven out by an extreme cold front around early April, as an example. Many of us have caught spawning bass in early June. Most of the largest bass do seem to spawn first. Anytime from mid-April to Memorial Day should find periods of spawning bass, especially during the full moon period. It is common knowledge that the north end warms first and sees the first spawns. The spawn then moves to mid-lake while the late spawners are usually found in the southern areas of the lake. These are only general comments. Nothing is "for sure" at Clear Lake!!
