Post by ownfl4g »

About to buy a 18 1/2 foot boat, will this be ok on the delta and clear lake? I know the bigger ones will ride better but im 19 and also dont have the means of pulling anything much bigger. Also which rod should i throw the spook on?

I driving a 17.5 foot Astro because I fixing my 20' Ranger. The 17 is little slow but depending on the hull design, I think a good driver can drive just about any size bass boat. Don't buy an aluminum boat for these waters. They are way too light for handling chop. With one exeption. The 185 aluminum boat from Triton is just awesome handle wakes very well, tows easy, fast hole shot and just fun to drive. One other thing it is very economical to fill up at the station. We burned about 6 gal from Redbud to Rodman and back (HDPI).

I run a 18 foot Ranger with a 150 Pro-V and can go anywhere on the Delta or Clearlake I want. As long as the boat is sound, looks like a good choice.
