i own a hds5 and i am wondering . lowrance came out with the elite 5dsi what gives that unit the dsi function is it the puck or is something built into the unit, like the strcucture scan? the reason i would like to know is can i get the same out of my hds5 without using the structure scan on my trolling motor.

The Elite 5 DSI is a combo GPS/Sonar unit. The Sonar is the Downview of the Structure Scan. It is the only option for sonar in that unit. It will not share that sonar with any other unit. The transducer that comes with the DSI can only transmit the Downscan image and only to the Elite head unit.

The only way you can have this view through an HDS 5 is to purchase an LSS-1 and connect it to the HDS 5.
