eeeeeh, that seems too big, I know the yamamoto hula grubs fit well on a 3/0 hook, it just catches the back where the tail forks. you can prob find some longer hula grubs to put on the 5/0 hooks though

I use 3/0 on 1/4 and 3/8 and 4/0 on 1/2, 3/4 and 1 oz. I use the black Owner structure hooks, not flippin's style. I don't put a weed guard on them. Most places I fish a football head, you don't need one.

I prefer the 4/0 Gammie hook for 3/8 to 1oz and 3/0 for quarter - I feel that the Hula and beaver aresuch a big baits that the bite I get with the 4/0 and a better bite to boat ratio.

Depends on Cost to you and the consumer. Non of my football heads have weedguards, the bass patrol jigs that do I take them off 95% of the time. It is the exception that I wish I had a weedgaurd on the hula like working down a rocky bank and there is a lay down. Most of the time I have two jigs tied on deck anyhoo an Arkie Style Jig with weedgaurd and a Football Jig. So it would be nice but definatly not a necessity.

I am probably alone on this item...

I would use Owner hooks. And the largest I could get away with. As long as it don't effect the action of the lure and effectiveness of the weed guard.

I pour 1/8th and 1/4th oz. dart heads with barb on my modified do-it mold and use 5/0 Owner hooks, I don't miss many bites. You tend to hang up a little more often.
