Nice fish Joshua!
Let me give you a little hint to help out the fish that you catch. If you are keeping these fish to eat your fine, if you are catching and releasing fish like the one you have in the pic try not to lay it down on the asphalt because that stuff is probably pretty hot and sandy and could do a lot of damage to the fish's slime coat which will jeopardize its survival.
I know you were trying to compare it to something (your foot/shoe) to show its size but instead of laying it down on ground hold it up against your rod butt and take pic.
I have seen some folks even mark the rod butt at six inch intervals so they get a length when the fish is held up to it.
