Unfortunatly for me I dont hink there is much that can be done for our meesly seven and a half pounds?

Hilight of the event for myslef and my partner Vince was when we saw one of the teams catch their first fish of the day in the same area we started out in. We had pleasent conversation right off the bat as we passed eachother on the bank prior to either one of us landing a fish which as you all know is not always the case when competing in other circuits. It was awesome to see the team of Psalm Repress(hope i spelled that right) and his young son with an open bow boat and a white hand control trolling motor mounted to the front. I was right there when they got their 1st fish. The young man was the happy recipient of their 1st fish as his proud Dad Psalm reached over the side with a blue and white icechest as his young son admired the beatifull green fish with a black stripe down the side. Psalm filled the rectangular icechest with a lid to just the right level as they proceeded to put their first fish in the livewell. If you could only see the young mans face when his Dad went up and received their check and trophy on both their behalf. Im telling you it was priceless and worth getting up early to witness! Psalm in his own right is a good stick but to witness him and his son together in their own boat is what it is all about in my opinion. My son is 11yrs old and a young 11 if you know what i mean. I dream about the day that we can fish together an event like this and it is not that far away.

Thanks again to John Barron and Ray Layerly and their staff for putting on another fine event. Only a format like this IMO can we really have the oppertunity to enjoy hangin out on the weekend with friends and family. The reason i bring this up is that this format is ideal for weekend anglers wanting to experience competitive angling. The entry fees are very low and they have diferent side options for Father/Son/Daughter, Husband/Wife/Significant other, Brothers, Cousins and even old farts like me. I really encourage any of you Forum readers to come out and participate at the next May 16, 2009 event at Lake Pyramid. Fishing will be at a premium because of the full moon phase and the spawn that is a little bit delayed this year. Good times will also be at a premium because that is what makes this event trail unlike all the rest!

Later; Big Ed!

Good story Ed. It sounds like the bite was tough but you guys had a good time. Its never about the weight for me, its about getting out on the water and improving my skill. Finishing in the money is just the icing on the cake. Andy

Thanks Big Ed, it's alright the name is tuff and the right way its spelled is Psalm Respress, I too had a blast fishing with my son he is one of three boys, and the youngest at 14 just keeping focused on the big picture is whats its all about he plays basketball, football and loves to fish, he is the one with my other son Johnathan pumped me up a few years ago and said with love of fishing you have had all these years and with us having a few wide open days of catching a few limits of fish for fun we need to try a tournament and see how we fair well I called Ray the director of the Bass Fed and he was super at getting me hooked up with all the info on his Tournament he Directs and last year he told me about this format and I told him I was all in... I missed the First at Castaic but will make the rest for sure... my old boat takes a licking and keeps on ticking I fished the bass fed last week at piru, and got a big old goose egg for a score, but I did spend the day putting my back seat fishing partner on fish all day and Doug took home first prize and I could not have been happy for him, he deserved that win more than anyone there. I did not take home a check but in the raffle both of my tickets were pulled and I got great tackle at great value, but spending the day fishing on the water with my son truly was priceless. I want to thank John, Ray and the TopStick Staff for a great event........

Good job to you and your son psalm.

In the end as long as it floats and gets you back to dock safe is all that matters. The green fish could care less
