Lures and Stripers

Post by Luckyfisherman »

Does anyone know if stripers will go for DD crankbaits to spinnerbaits? I usually use flukes, rip baits/jerk baits, and small swimbaits, but I just wanted to try something different. Planning to go out this weekend to san luis.

They will basically go after anything that "moves". I've caught stripers on a variety of lures.

My favorite lure for stripers are 3/4 oz Rat L Traps if I'm casting them and 1 or 1.5 oz Rat L Traps if I'm trolling for them. My biggest striper on a 3/4 oz Rat L Trap is 27+ lbs. I caught a 15+ lbs striper on a 1/2 oz chatterbait. My cousin caught a 33 lb striper on a 1/2 oz spinnerbait one morning while we were fishing for black bass.
