Minn Kota Trolling Motor Issue

Post by Sidmcneil »

Need help.

Is there any way someone could watch this video and let me know if I need a new shaft bearing and race? The lower shaft has lots of play in it and makes quite a racket when pulsing. I loosened the dust cap and took the race and bearings out and they all look fine. The balls were all there and nothing looked out of place, but perhaps they are worn. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I think there's a bearing at the top inside the control head assembly (not sure what MK calls it). Have you looked at that one too?

Minn Kota has a new style bearing, you have to change the upper tube but it will take out all the play. If you want to stay with the old style then your bering inner race is probable worn. I don't know where you live, but you can call me and I can tell you what to look for :D :D . My phone # 530 246-8051 My shop is in Redding CA.

I'd take Jay up on his offer....we dropped a motor off at 7am last week, went and had breakfast, and Jay called as we finished and the motor was done...Now I know from my own reel service this goes un-recognized most of the time, so AWESOME SERVICE Jay.

Like I said, do yourself a favor...call him.
