Any tips for Cancun?

Post by Pil9rotten »

I am going to Cancun in November and plan to do some flats fishing. Anyone fish there before? What baits do I need? Rigs etc... This will not be a fly fishing trip.

Are there any Bass lakes nearby?

I go every year and stay at the Aventura Palace... Great place! My last trip in March we got 2 white marlins and one sail in one day. Our guide/boat captain @ Tequila Sunrise in Puerto Aventura suggested we also do some flats fishing but we did not have the chance. I hear it is awesome in that area of Cancun.

And another thing... If you are interested in staying at any of the all inclusive Palace Resorts send me a PM because I have a time-share-thing where I basically have 220 weeks to use any time I want and I do not have that much vacation time left in my life!

HooRah!

We are staying at a time share also one of the West Mark properties plus I'll spend a little time at the Westin (employee). I may take you up on some of that excess vacation time. See your a Marine! I Just retired from the Coast Guard. Spent 13 years active and 14 Reserve. The last 4 were with a special warfare unit (expiditionary). Glad its over but wouldn't trade the experience for anything especially the 5 weeks I spent at Camp Lejuene last year. LOL...While at combat town I saw some hogs in the moat that surrounds it. Wish I had a rod, I would have gladly sacrificed a few hours sleep to rip into those beasts.

See you at the Rally?

Take a 9 or 10 wt fly rod. shooting heads floater, slowsink and some T14 heavy. Get a dozen poppers and seahabits in sardina.

I know you said its not flyfishing, but if n you can toss a fly ??
slip it in your gear, you wont regret it.

as far as spinnin or baitcast. spooks, poppers, swimbaits.
goto Addictive Fishing .com...get a mogan kit and some other DOA
lures. This is all I took my last 5 trips.
