older bantam curado drag problem

Post by thejerbs »

I have one of the older green bantam curados and the drag keeps going out. I have replaced the drag washers and have taken apart and reassembled the reel many times. The drag works for a little bit then just goes out again. What else can I do? I don't have enough money to buy a new reel right now. please help!

thanks

What exactly is happening? Is the reel loosing drag pressure? Is the drag becoming jerky or unsmooth?

It loses drag pressure almost completely. sometimes after I take it apart then reassemble it works for a fish or two, then just loses pretty much all pressure. Its smooth, just no pressure.

Do you have the drag pressure washers installed correctly? They should look like this:

( ) or ) (

If they are flattened out then that could be your problem also. Do you fish your reels with the drag buckled down?

yes...I have tried both ways for the drag pressure washers. For this reel I have been using it pinned down, cause thats the only way it would work.

Something is not right. I suggest that you send the reel to us and have our technicians go through the reel. Send it with a copy of this email and I will make sure they repair the reel at no charge.

Now if the reel has been modified in any way then we will not be able to repair it at no charge.

AWESOME!!!!
I am not aware of any modifications that were made to the reel. So it should be cool.

Could you send me the address please?

Thanks a bunch!
