Beware of Swimbaits!!!!!!!

Post by Johnny C »

After reading a whole bunch of posts on this site and the southern site I have come to the conclusion that swimbaits are making many good fisherman go crazy. It may be time to start a SA group (Swimbaiters Anonymous)..We can take these guys through the twelve steps of having fun while bass fishing..I can only pray for them. Oh, my name is Johnny C and I am a Swimbaitaholic.

Hey Johnnie C! From the other Johnny C...I gotta tell ya...I am hating this whole swimabait craze.

I am trying to get back into this sport after a 12 year hiatus but DANG!!!!

All my old spinnerbait skirts and jigs (Rodstrainer, of course)are all gummed up...my darthead hooks are all rusted out. All my C/O custom pours have eaten right through my zip lock bags and are all jumbled together... and I have snagged up and lost all my red/black Poe's 400 series at the NG at Clear Lake (thus my poor performance...lol!).

So, unless my sub-prime mortgage gets saved by the feds...I will have to melt down all my Li'l bits and Gitzits into a home made Sassy Shad mold and make the best of it. I will become a swim bait expert some day...you just watch!

I cant tell you how many times i could have killed them on a jig or worm but stuck with the big bait because i am addicted . I think I could use some serious sessions of Swimbaiters Anonymous.

I am Elliott B and i am ADDICTED to swimbaits.

Hello My name is Basstrophy and I am a swimbait addict. My visa card is maxed out from loosing so many swimbaits by working them like a jig. My wife has said that it's swimbaits or her..... I'm going to miss her...... I feel I have hit rock bottom but I still go out each time and toss those big baits just to catch a teener for the thrill, take a picture then release her, it's so addicting I can't stop...... but you know..... that's what make me keep going back and using more swimbaits.

Not too late to order a Kreepy Krawler Set for X-mas...Just need them to put some big trout molds in them...Oh, and by the way, take a walk through Wal-Mart, for pennys on the dollar, and with a little ingenuity, you can find things that with a little craftsmanship, a swimbait can be made for less than a few bucks...The hooks will be the most expensive part...Some articles won't even need paint...These are hard baits...SwimWays is getting close, too, Har!...(Softbait)...

Next thing...Dipping what I found in plastisol to try and make a Basstrix Copy!...Or maybe dipping part of a spoon handle...Yikes, the options are endless...That's what I always liked about Paul at Delta Bait in Manteca, he always had everthing down there to make your own baits, too...Small tackle shops, don't be afraid to supply stuff for making your own, a sale is a sale!...

I suck at swimbait fishing but have been chucking them for over a year now and I can't stop buying the damn things. I don't even want to go into a tackle shop because I will leave with a bag full of freaking trout baits. I haven't even caught that many SB fish and I have a small fortune in baits. It's a sickness I tell you!

Hello My name is David Rogers and I want to be a swim bait addict, the 2 fish I got the end of this year did not cut it so I went out and bought $150.00 worth for this spring at Clear Lake. Wait a minute, I think this does qualify me for a swim bait addict!!!
I heard you can get really good ones in east Palo Alto but be careful you might get a cut hud.

One more note, I just ready an article that 50% of all crime in California is Meth related, think about that "ALL CRIME" either stealing to get the meth or violence after being strung out, the article continued to say that the other 50% of crime was from Swim Bait addicts stealing to pay for their huds

No such thing, once you hook a bass on a tripple trout, there is no hope for you. You will stay up for days on end, stop eating, and cash your pay checks at the tackle shop. I have even seen people cashing there social security checks at the bait shop. Bass pros are working the truck stops, like lot lizards. It truly is an epademic. Is there no hope for are future?

Or in my case with in the first few times out trying swimbaits I hooked the biggest bass I have ever seen in person, a definite DD hawg, only to have it jump 5 feet from me and shake and come unbuttoned. It was my fault and this was a year ago and I still think about it all the time. I have not caught or even hooked anything close to a double digit bass since. I'm determined to do so though and that is why I keep buying these damn things and spending countless days throwing them and most of the time blanking. I'm still at it and will keep on chucking.
