Fished the SJ, slow on top, metered alot in current or just out of the current, didn't try spooning them, but the possibility was there.

Wasn't interested in catching them with that technique.

Fished the Mokulume between B&W and Tower Park Bridge. B&W bridge is holding a good size school of legal keepers. worked some of the bends and flats headed towards Tower Park with good success. No giants but lots of schoolie and legal keepers. Best action were on ripbaits and fishtraps worked very very slowly. They would not chase anything fast or up top....slow it down and it was on!

Wednesday & Tursday morning's bites were wild and crazy on top water for the first 45 minutes of day light. Have a follow up bait like a hair raiser close by, a lot of these fish right now are just tail whacking the topwater bait and not getting it until the 3rd or 4th try.

The schoolies, 3-7 pounds, are bull rushing the dead end sloughs and ditches where shad are present. If ya see the white egrets roosting in nearby trees or right down on the rocks at the water line, huge sign the shad are present. Also if ya see the circling Terns and gulls, you'll know ya got shad in deeper water right under em. Dive bombers are a given!

Once that sun comes up, casting and slow winding Big Hammer paddle tails in Pearl or white on a 3/4oz jig head is deadly. Slow roll it, and don't hesitate ta bounce and drag along the bottom. They do want it moving real slow as the morning goes on. Also try putting a splash of Chartuese in those white baits. I splat mine with a Q-tip dipped in dippin dye. Jerkbaits will work really well if ya git caught up in the middle of an very active school of fish, otherwise, ya can be rippen a long time between bites. Again, jerk it down the fish it really slow once below 5 feet. And they are knocking the snot out of hairraisers too, again white is best with a subtle Chartruese trailer and just kind of slow yo-yo the jig along the bottom.
