Map Adjustments for Water Level

Post by mhardt »

Does lowrance have the option, like humminbird, to adjust your lake map to accomodate low water conditions? I believe on humminbird you just type in the percentage of capacity the lake is and it adjusts the contour lines accordingly.

Thanks

Ken,

Is that something that is in the works as a future add on to existing HDS units? If so would that be a software upgrade or an add on chip.

Thanks

If you use a Navionics card you can change the safety zone shading of contours to closely match the new lake level and accomplish the same effect with the HDS units. I always adjust my safety zone shading to match the depth I expect to find bass as it helps me find more potential hot spots at the proper depth. Rather than use this feature to highlight the depth you want to fish, you could use it to show the topographical line that corresponds closely to the lake level.

You are welcome. I use it all the time when I am fishing specific depths, especially in the winter and summer when bass are deep; the safety shading helps me locate the right depth faster and in spots I would normally not notice. The blue shading helps me spot the right depth all over the lake at a glance.

Thanks Marc,

Where in the HDS menu would I find this feature to change the safety zone shading? I do have a navionics chip.

When you insert the Navionics chip while in the Chart screen hit menu and find it there. When you change the map data from Lowrance to Navionics the menu changes to reflect the options for Navionics that are not available in Lowrance.
