HDS 5 Setting for Transducer

Post by dogfish2 »

HDS 5 on bow is plugged to MinnKota Trolling Motor, built-in, US-2 transducer. Do I need to change any setting in the "Sonar Settings Menu" > "Transducer Type"? 50/200mHk or 83/200mHk? Thanks.

Yes, program your HDS to "Generic 83/200". It will work just fine!

Bring up the full sonar page; Press MENU twice and press ENTER; the Sonar Settings Menu will appear; scroll down to Installation and press ENTER; a new menu will appear, scroll to Transducer Type and make selection.

I'm far from being an expert like those on this forum, but the above works for me. I was used to the "plug in and ready to go" units and transducer of the more basic units. Didn't even know I had to sync the two. But, thanks to the assistance of Ken and Marc, all is good!

Call me if you would like me to walk you through it. 415 218-9545 Len

Thanks for the assist, Len! Yep; do what Len said.

Remember to set the HDS to shallow water mode first, then set the transducer type, then increase ping speed to 18 (in that order).
