Best AGM Battery???

Post by edge »

I am looking at a new cranking battery to run my Merc 175EFI and all my electronics and a new pair of trolling motor batteries for my MK Maxxum Pro 84lb.

What is the best AGM battery out there for the money?

The best are the ones from Odyssey. They only use new lead. I have some discount coupons I can mail to you if your are serious.

Check them out at http://www.odysseyfactory.com

Best is always hard to define. Odyssey marine AGM batteries are high quality and also make Sears Die Hard AGM marine group 31 battery.
Blue top Optima are popular with mid range quality and nearly every auto or discount house sells them. Optima is owned by Interstate and sells and ship direct.
I installed 3 UP's AGM's ($40 each*, group 31) last fall and will never go back to conventional batteries; no corrosion or gasing issue and hold a charge about 3X longer then my 225's Trojans.

About the same weight as group 31 Odyssey; 65 lbs...it's the lead content. You only need to fool around with them every 5 to 6 years and by then I will forget I have a boat!

Don't know how you got a Odessy AGM 31 for $40 . I call a Odessy dealer in Elk Grove and was informed that it was over $200 each and but didn't have two in stock.. Sure alot different than $40 each.
If that's the price out of LA, still a bargain to buy it there and have it ship to Sac.

Wasting your money with the AGM's in my opinion. They are way heavier and dont last any longer than a good Heavy Duty marine battery. I've been though enough batteries to know.
