798 with compact side scan depth problems

Post by hasetak »

i hve a 798 with a compact side scan transducer on the bow of my boat, when i get in less than 15-20 feet of water the depth goes all wacky. Jumping around from 70 to 1400 feet. It will read properly for maybe 10 seconds if i go from more than 20 to lesss than 20 quickly. My 997 on at the console seems to work fine for the most part. It will get wacky alittle bit but it corrects itself quickly. I am sure i am gettin interferance some where i just dont have a clue where to look, i have tried shutting the other units off and the trolling motor on or off doesnt seem to affect anything. What should i look for causing this problem.

Thanks

What Switchfire Settings are you using? Switchfire CLear is best for shallow water.
