DFG proposal - striper limit at 6 with a 12inch size @ Delta

The basic proposed changes are as follows:

Raising the daily bag limit for striped bass from two to six fish.

Raising the possession limit for striped bass from two to 12 fish.

Lowering the minimum size for striped bass from 18 to 12 inches.

Establishing a “hot spot” for striped bass fishing at Clifton Court Forebay and specified adjacent waterways at which the daily bag limit will be 20 fish, the possession limit will be 40 fish and there will be no size limit. Anglers fishing at the hot spot would be required to fill out a report card and deposit it in an iron ranger or similar receptacle.

Changes to the sport fishing regulations for the Carmel, Pajaro and Salinas Rivers to allow harvest of striped bass when the fishery would otherwise be closed.

DFG, probaly the most worthless people ever. do such stupid things. stripers just do what god put them here to do. eat baitfish like every other fish pretty much. Theyve been here for 132 years and now you wanna get rid of them? they eat salmon smolt but so do other fish. and im sure a bunch go down to socal with the water. as i recall this is the first Open salmon year in a few years. and it was a pretty damn good run. theres no need to raise limits on them and lower the size. what is the joy in keeping a 12" fish? really?

The fact is that many fish populations have been going down including the Stripers... so what is eating the Striped Bass? It must be the Mitten Crab...! Killem all..! Drain the Delta!

I started fishing the Delta in 1988. The populations today compared to then is miniscule - I would suggest 20 to 1 difference. To draw a conclusion that the Striper is at fault is just silly nilly as the Striper populaiton has dramatically declined also.

I think we need to build more damns to store water. There is no other way around it. If the environmentalist object, charge them extra for the water. And the speckled fuddy duddy mountain owl can move it's nest a few miles away...

Any way, imagine the party boats taking 10 fish per person, per day, any size.

Catch and release is a must at this point. Let the Stripers go... Buy Tipalia at Safeway.... $4.99 per pound.

Just another water grab, divide and conquer, first the stripers then the largemouth. Kill all delta fishing so the fishermen aren't there to complain about the water grabbing....

Here's a couple things for you to read.

http://calsport.org/news/dfg-caves-yet- ... rotection/

http://water4fish.org/striper/

You might be interested in these docs too.

I've already sent a letter to the President of the Ca. Fish & Game Commission. If you'd like more info on sending a letter, let me know. I believe the due date to get one sent is late Jan/early Feb., before the Commission meets to discuss the regulation proposal.

BTW, congrats on your win!
