Outdoor Heritage, Inc. Announces New Tournament Circuits

Post by bassfan2 »

The formation of a new western-based professional tournament trail and media company is quickly gaining momentum and has already received significant sponsorship support. The investment group Outdoor Heritage, Inc., comprised of western angling notables and independent businessmen Gary and Richard Dobyns, Tony Franceschi, Roderick Lee, Jim Markham, and Craig Gottwals, is leading the organization of the Pro-Am and team tournament circuits and recently secured permits for several California and Arizona lakes.

Franceschi expects that the new tournaments will be popular among anglers aspiring to become pros and compete against the western’s best.

"We’ve been offered a wide variety of tournaments in the past, but never one that provided anglers the opportunity to chase the dream of making a living fishing out West,” states Franceschi. “Our plan is to build this organization so that in the future, whether you are just starting out or have been competing for years, there will be the opportunity to make your dreams a reality!"

Angling legend Gary Dobyns echoes Franceschi’s sentiments.

Says Dobyns, “Flat out, this circuit will attract the best of the best. This is just the beginning; our vision is to build upon this and deliver an elite-level circuit for the West.”

Outdoor Heritage will offer media coverage for all of its circuits, including television coverage for its Pro-Ams. Tournament details, including sponsorship and payout, will be formally announced at a later date.

Great jobs guys. About time someone came into the modern time to promote tournament fishing. Looking forward to seeing the payout and other info. The promo is hot and exciting! Something to get excited about.

Other orgs better step their game up. PRINT Media is DEAD!

Here is what we have had in the west for 35 years, Organizations with great intent, but the intent was to make money from the fishermen, pull off the top a percentage and give little prizes, and promises for the future. The money that they bring in from big advertising just goes to there profit. I stopped fishing several times, because it never made sense, to put out 100.00 to get 80.00 back. These company's where in business to make money, and had there interest in mind first. Some did better than others. But that is not the problem. THE PROBLEM IS. We are a fragmented group, in other words a new organization start some people say hey look here, I am going to try them out, And there is the problem. There are far to many tournaments org. Period. Just a few fish all of them but most pick one out one and fish that one, there is the problem. We must unite behind one Organization fill it 100% every time then move to start another. That has never happened, we are fragmented everyone doing there own thing. B.a.s.s. came out we failed to support them after we begged for years for them to come. FLW came and we failed to support them. Now Now will we ever wise up. Its is time let me repeat IT IS TIME NOW TO UNITE behind This new org. Born here in the west, Lets support our People, Now give Gary Dobyns your total support. It may be the last effort, stop supporting people whom only want your money and they move on, Lets keep it here in the west. Nobody has watched this more than I , You must think, think of the future not supporting every Org. that come down the pike. I love you all, you will be wise if you listen to me. God Bless you. From what I have heard, this is going to be a big deal - FOR THE ANGLERS......Time to step up and support our own. Lets make this organization our own by being a part of it. With the people involved, how can anybody go wrong by being a part of what they are putting together. Enough of the other organizations. Be a part of something developed on the West Coast.

Even though the West Coast has produced some of the best anglers we will never get the recognition that the anglers down south get because WE don't support our organizations out here. This is it guys, support a large tournament circuit made by us for us or always be regulated as second class citizens in the tournament world.

I think you should get your facts strait. The major orgs have always been supported in the west. They simply made up untrue statements stating they were not. Go look at the numbers for BASS tournies held in the west as well as FLW. The numbers speak for themselves.

The smaller orgs simply do not get support because they refused to do the work required to get sponsor $$ to pay back 100% or more and there is very little angler exposure. If one of them would have done this they would have smoked the others IMHO.

Agree the video is awesome, but its still just gobldy gook until we see the payouts. For some reason I doubt it, I get this feeling Gary and Crew are getting their ducks lined up to blow the doors off this, but if this is going to be another circuit that rides on the back of the co-angler I will be very disappointed.

I guarantee that these guys are starting this tourney circuit because they are genuine fishermen and want to see anglers from the west succeed. The whole concept is awesome and this is exactly what the west needs. Everyone in the western U.S. should be so happy that they have the chance to fish at the highest level without leaving home. We should all give our support to Outdoor Heritage and be thankful that someone it trying to make something great for all of the western anglers

Great posts guys. THANKS. We are working hard at putting finishing touches on things. We are going to start having angler meetings very soon. The first will be at C&C in Sac. This is where it all got started about 9 months ago. I believe anglers will be pretty happy with us. It's not where we want to be yet ( still very good ), but you will DEFINITELY see our direction and goals.

I am no where near the quality of fisherman being targeted here, but I do hope you have active website to cover events. Very much looking forward to following your successes.

I like the concept but I can only see myself fishing it if the format is NOT shared weight. I can't see doubling my entry fee and adding a tournament to my schedule for the same tournament format that does not sound like it includes a TOC. I appreciate that the events are being kept regionally to keep the travel costs down and the anglers that are backing this thing are some of our best ambassadors of the sport but we need a non shared weight format to have true competition.

We will be covering events CLOSELY. We will have a NON-SHARED weight for Pro-Ams. As far as TOC goes.......there will be something at the end for the anglers :D otherwise points race means nothing. We have tried to figure the goods, bads, and what can we make better in a circuit. We have a plan. :D :D

Guys,

Gary and his crew are the real deal!! This circuit is going to knock the socks off the competition... ProAms as we know them are going to look like unorganized weakly paid back turkey shoots compared to these events.
I wont say much, Ill let Gary spill the beans with all the details but I will say this... Someone would have to be out of their mind to NOT fish this Pro Am circuit. It will crush the other Pro Ams out there in Payouts, End Of the Year Awards, Professionalism, Integrity, and Respect for its anglers.
The lakes and Dates are AWESOME... They are hitting most of these lakes during Epic times of year... You WILL get more bang for your buck fishing these events...HANDS DOWN!!

Stay turned!!!!!

I for one cant wait!!!

Guys we have needed this for a LONG time!! Its a breath of fresh air for all Tournament Anglers in the West. Even the schedule in the North, we get to go back to Don Pedro for a Pro-Am! Finally a group of FISHERMAN that know what the Angler wants and needs. Non-Shared weight which is the only way a Pro-Am format should be. Now the Co-Anglers can hone their skills by catching their OWN fish, and see where they stand against the rest.
Cant wait for the new year to get here.... :D

Whats going to be off limits time wise. If you fish the FLW the week before Thursday and Friday, will that disqualify you from fishing the upcoming event e.g. Oroville.
