Trolling Motor Props?

Post by ACP »

Do you guys change your trolling motor props depending on the waters you fish? Say one prop for weed free reservoirs & one for places like the Delta & Clear Lake that have lots of weeds.

In general, three and four-bladed props are supposed to be more weedless but the compromise is a loss in torque/power.

I like Minn-Kota's two-bladed Weedless Wedge prop (their standard/stock prop)--I use it in open water reservoirs and in the weed choked Delta without a problem and never saw a need to buy an aftermarket "weedless" type. Most weeds seem to catch on the shaft, not the prop.

i've been advocating the kipawa prop for years.
they are every bit as efficient as the minnkota
props. same price, and free express shipping.
they don't handle the green slimey stuff in the
delta, but you get a little more on the top end
and working the beds you can turn it down
a little since there are 3 blades working the
water.i've been useing 1 for about 8 years now.
