Networking two HDS7, Gen. 2's

Post by R. Duzac »

Sorry if this has been covered. I searched and did not find the answer.

I have one HDS 7 Touch and was going to add a second unit. I want both units to read off of the same DownScan.
Can I use a simple eithernet cord from one unit to the other, or do I need the Lowrance NEP-2 Eithernet Expansion Port.

I did ask at BPS's and the guy couldn't help me there either :-(.

Thanks for any help.

Ethernet cable between the two units is all you need to share, transducers, map cards, and waypoints. Any transducer can be viewed from any unit through Ethernet. The expansion port is for when you get multiple units and don't have enough Ethernet ports. HDS 7 Touch has one port each.

we just hooked up our HDS 12 and 9 on the same network and it's pretty nice. put the trolling motor down and both graphs run off the trolling motor puck... stand by on the front graph when motoring and it reads the back transducer. A very handy thing to have!
