Gas Issues please read
Guys I need some tips. Everytime I fill up in the morning gas sprays out the tank. My tanks are under the seats so I cannot see the level but I do go slow it just seems to spray out everytime. You guys got any trick or gadgets to keep the gas in the tank and not all over my boat and leg?

For mine to not burp back on me, I don't push the rubber all the way over the opening so it allows a little more airflow and I pull the trigger about half way. Hope this makes sense. works for me.

That's good advice. I can hear when the sound of the gas filling changes, as it starts to come up the fill tube. But going slow is the key.kraetzer wrote:For mine to not burp back on me, I don't push the rubber all the way over the opening so it allows a little more airflow and I pull the trigger about half way. For me what helps is to turn the gas pump handle around so the actual handle part you squeeze to start the flow is facing inward towards your boat

Hold the nozzle upside down and pump at the slowest rate. You'll have to hold the trigger with your hand, and it may start to hurt after a while, but it's the best way to control any blowback. If it's quiet enough around you, you may also be able to hear when the fuel starts coming up your boat's fill hose. Stop right away, and that's why manual control is best. Also, I've read that if you pull up to an island where the pavement tilts away from the pumps, that can help prevent that too. Something about better venting that way.

Thanks guys. I have been holding the rubber back and pumping really slow listening for the gas. It's been alright I was just hoping I was being a complete idiot and there was a totally better method. Sounds like it's the same issue for everyone! I'm going to try turning the pump upside down. Thanks guys

If you have an idea of how many gallons it will take, fill it 3/4 of the way up and then stop for 20-30 seconds to let it settle, then continue. Seems to help me some.

Look at the fuel gage, stop at 3/4 full, no reason to over fill your tank unless it's necessary for the days outing.
If you know tank capacity you can judge when it's getting near the last 2 gallons, then you need to finesse it.
