RIP Greg Cornish

Post by GW »

I am currently out of town but just learned that Greg Cornish passed away last night, peacefully in his sleep with his wife by his side. Greg was a good friend of mine and will surely be missed.

Indeed. We often went back and forth back in the day, but it never got personal, Greg was always a class act. Rip my friend.

Damn. Him and I would go back and forth for years about politics, but we ended up talking quite a bit in the last few years. I sent him a message a month or so again checking in, as I hadn't heard from him in a while, and didn't hear back--figured things weren't going too well.

Rest in Peace Greg--and thank you for your service to this country.

Very Sorry to hear the news. I knew he was battling cancer. Although we never met, I could laugh to tears with some of the stuff he would post both here and on Cal Bassin. You could almost hear the pride he had in his brother in Minnesota everytime he'd mentioned him. And his fishing tales about the boat. I remember his go pro footage when he was on a road trip. I've missed Greg and his posts over the last few months, and I'm glad he always made my day a little brighter.

God Bless you Greg.
My condolences to his family

He loved fishing Clear Lake. And he loved mixing it up in the forums. Sad to see him go. Farewell fellow fisherman.

Greg was iconic !

I hope he was not suffering pain in the end - And I hope where ever he is now - that he can kick rocks down a lone country road - once again - and take everything in as he used to be able to do.

Godspeed Cornish,
Dan
You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

RIP Mr Cornish....
I know alotta guys didn't care for Greg's banter and pot stirring that he did online. But I think he loved fishing and the commaraderi of it all. I used to think what an asshole when I'd read his posts sometimes. And the first time I met the guy heres this old guy in a wheel chair. He liked getting a rise out of folks. I enjoyed talking to him in person everytime I saw him after that. He was Calbassin legend ha ha.

While I didn't know him personally I interacted with him some on the forums. In the hey day of the Politics board (before the Conservatives dropped off the board demoralized after losing all the arguments and every major election) Greg was one of the lone sensible posters, aside from me of course.
Sorry, had to get in one last shot for Greg's sake.

RIP Greg

I'll miss you Greg. Although we never met in person, we shared some pretty interesting conversations. You were who you were better than anyone else ever could have been.

Greg had many health issues dating back almost 40 years, and through it all, he was always positive, upbeat, sometimes sarcastic, sometimes annoying. I had the pleasure of meeting Greg and I found he was a warm, caring, genuine human being. And Barbara was his pillar of strength. They were both fortunate to have had each other.
