Great job team Elsher! Who caught the big fish? Daddy or the young gun?

26 teams, big fish, for $2210...

Last tourney had 20 teams and paid $2400? Uhh?

Seems odd..

Anyways, congrats to Team Elsher again, and Eric, fishing the day after chemo? You are my hero dude...

Thank you man. It was a really crazy night and a bit rough. I don't know if it was the smartest thing to do...but catching that weight and anchoring a 8lb plus was pretty nice! and yes, Young Elshere got her!

CHAMPIONS!

Team Eric is not just a brand with a flashy boat wrap; its a testament to inner strength and an inspiration to all!

Chemo treatments get harder with each session, and Eric literally finished his exhaustive chemo treatment on Friday. Not only did he tough out the physical pain and discomfort, he also battled and beat the big bass of the night time event (an 8.34 pound Mama Pesce). I have nothing but admiration and amazement that Eric and Larry even showed up, let alone win!

We all know the moment well. The perfect cast that settles just past the small rock pile hidden from view of all but your seasoned, sixth sense. Knowing you nailed the cast, your anticipation heightens. Your awareness is in sharp focus as you feel the worm weight tic each stone your worm crawls over. The tics are interrupted into an abrupt TAP! A reflexive sharp swing of your hips and arms loads your rod into a dangerously deep bend, followed by slow, strong head shakes that signal the night is suddenly scary.

An epic battle ensues, causing you to stumble in the dark for footing. Giving line and gaining it back with the goal of applying steady pressure, but not too much. Suddenly remembering to be religious with the emphatic prayers to God to "please stay on" and "no, don't jump!" And just at the right moment, guide the money maker into the waiting net brandished by your partner. The still cool air is punctured by shouts impossible to contain, and excitement begins to infect every remaining thought of the night.

This scenario played out on Lake Casistas at the WON Bass tournament on August 1, 2015. Just moments before the fateful moment the (all too young) cancer survivor fought off the debilitating effects of chemo. Effects that made simple thought, awareness, and focus impossible; pain and discomfort all too prominent.

Luck is often defined as occurring when preparation intersects with opportunity. That night perseverance and practice made luck automatic for Eric Elshere, and the love and strength provided unconditionally by his pillar of strength and fishing mentor, his Dad Larry, made the epic moment more significant than any big bass award or tournament win.

Team Eric became CHAMPIONS!
(and winners too)
