Be careful in Putah Creek!

Post by drdetroit3 »

I was going up Putah creek today between the rocks formations and the no wake zone, in the middle of the river, hit a un marked rock pile destroyed my lower unit!
Hopefully someone will mark it?

Sounds like there are a few of those up there right now. Buddy said there's one up the river past the first left turn that is inches under the surface, so boat can even hit before motor. Think he's calling to see if someone can go mark it.. Dangerous up there right now...

Just to add my thanks for these posts. At Berryessa, the shallow spots are showing in many places - some you would never guess are shallow. They are not just "on the bank!" As I mentioned in a previous report, I had a client catch a big largemouth this summer on a rockpile that I had never seen before with 40 years experience on the lake!

Markley Cove low water ramp is fine. We (3 bass boats) used the ramp Fri late afternoon - no problem. Not sure about the other one. I think Pleasure Cove is using aircraft steel ramps. Still ok to launch - I think.

Public ramp is still closed. Ramp at Spanish Flat is also now open with a new dock and they have the drop in steel ramps. Haven't been there myself, but friend lives a stones throw away and said it's good to launch. They are charging $18 bucks to launch.

Played in the wind yesterday Markley ramp seems to be just fine. Nice to see so much grass this late in the year :)
