Hey Kick Boaters

Hey Kick boaters I'd like to buy my son some waders to wear while fishing from his belly boat....he's never used waders only his wet suit...should i be looking for neoprene or something more like conventional waders "rubberized" he says he would like some with boots (with thinsulate)...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...thanks

I have used two different types , I used a full body neoprene version , 5mm think when I had a float tube (body sat really low in the water ) . The second type is a 3mm hip wader version for using on a pontoon boat . On my pontoon boat I am only down to just below my knee in the water . I think cabela's has both types available in 5mm or 3mm thickness . Thicker is better for colder water or winter use

look at the newer gortex waders. light for summer and sweats under for winter

I would highly recommend staying away from neoprene style waders and even the rubber ones. I've spent a ton of time in float tubes and something more breathable is recommended. Brands like Simms and Redington make great ones. They can be pricey but def worth it. Problem with the rubber ones is that they don't breath and get really hot and sweaty. You do a lot of moving in a tube and sweat a lot. One more thing is that I would go with ones with neoprene bootys instead of boots. The boots are stiff when built in and not great for flippers. Instead get some paddling style boots to go on and then some flippers to go over. Fishing will be much more enjoyable.
