adding a second unit to bow

Post by jusnitta »

If I purchase a hds9 Gen3 without a transducer for can I link it up with my console hds9 Gen3 so I won't need to install a new transducer?

Yes as long as you have Nema 2000, Ethernet cord, and power to the bow unit. The Nema allows the sharing of all Nema 2000 compatible devices.

You can certainly do that if you connect the units by Ethernet. However, I would caution against doing it. If you are poking your bow toward shore, in some of our lakes the stern might be in 10-20' of water will the bow will be in 1-2'. If the water is stained you will have no idea how shallow you are running and could damage your boat. When you purchase a new unit, the ones that come with a transducer are only $50 more. In my opinion, you are making a huge mistake to not have depth readings off the bow, where you presumably spend 90% of your time.
