I have a puzzle. I had a gen2 touch unit in front of my 2013 ranger z 20c that failed. Unit came with boat. I replaced with new hds gen2 touch unit. Now I get bad interference with sonor in front when running my minn kota I took too ranger dealership and they tried tying transducer wire away from minn Kota power wire, but that changed nothing. Furthermore they noticed slight interference even when unit was reading off back transducer that I did not see until they showed me. They sent me to a minn kota field reps house. He tried running a ground to trolling motor skeg but that didn't help. He also undid the coiled transducer wire up front that dealership had done because that fix was on list of minn kota trouble shooting. But that didn't help anything. So I am still left with my problem.
Work at dealership and with minn kota rep was done out of the water.
All softwarre updates were done except for one I saw in this forum that was released for dec 15.
Any ideas?

Re: Interference with trolling motor
If your Minn Kota is a Fortrex then you have an interference problem that is very common. I have a Maxxum Pro and didn't update my trolling motor to a Fortrex for the interference reason. With all the experimenting I have done to try to reduce the interference, I think the interference is coming from the motor itself. The transducer is mounted on the trolling motor and the ducer is receiving the noise from the electric motor and showing it on the screen. Your people you have had look at your system have tried all the right things. I don't have any ideas left that they didn't do. Sorry...

Ken, have you heard if the new Fortrex 112 has the same issue? I was getting ready to replace my trolling motor from a worn out Maxxum Pro, now not sure.

Re: Interference with trolling motor
Hi Ken,
Thanks for your reply. That is tough news.
It is even more of a mystery when you consider the hds2 touch unit that died on me did not have the interference. At the dealership they got another hds2 touch and hooked it to my boat and it had interference too.

Re: Interference with trolling motor
Morgan,
All Fortrex trolling motors have had the same increased interference issues.
