""HELP"" gen3 question

Post by RMANZO »

i hooked up my new gen3 and for some reason when I get over fish and drop my bait down I can see it on the screen great, but it is always showing just out side the right of the screen..so all I get is the trail from my bait going across the screen.. ken are you out there:):) no matter what side of trolling motor I drop down on,it is just outside the right side right where screen starts..

When the transducer sends out a "ping" or sound the sound wave in 200 khz which is your normal Broadband Sonar frequency, the sound wave is shaped in a cone. The deeper it gets, the wider it's shape is. Anything that is in this cone is shown on the screen. It doesn't matter where in the cone it appears, everything in that cone shows on the screen in one flat picture, starting on the right side as the current information to show.

What you see on the right side of the screen is what is right under the ducer. As the picture scrolls everything to the left of the right edge is history. If you are moving the boat, the information in the middle of the screen is somewhere behind the boat. So as you drop your bait right beside the trolling motor, you will see it at the top right side at first and as you drop it, the bait is shown at it's current location on the right side of the screen. That is why you see it as an angled line across the screen as it drops getting deeper all the time it is dropping and the line that is your bait is that angled line.

It won't matter which side of the trolling motor you drop your bait, it will be somewhere in the cone and show on the screen.
