Rough E7
Rough E7
I have an E7 that is reeling a little rough. I tore it down cleaned and lubed everything I even had a fresh set of Boca spool bearings and threw them in. I now casts great however it is still not as smooth as my other E7s Don't want to keep throwing parts at it gears seem to be ok probably going to replace the other bearings. Just wandering if anyone had this problem and what did you do and am I missing something

Re: Rough E7
I had to replace the drive gears in another brand's reel, because they became rough after fighting several catfish over 15lbs, and hauling up a traffic cone full of mud.
The replacement gears weren't too expensive, it wasn't hard to do (take cellphone pictures as you take it apart so you have a reference for reassembly) and the reel is now smooth again.

Re: Rough E7
Could be the pinion gear or drive gear? Or drive shaft bearing? I would just send it in for repair at that point.
Re: Rough E7
It could be either the driveshaft bearing, and or a gear issue. If the reel has been used in or around salt or tidal water I'd quess driveshaft.
However, if you have used it for doing a lot of cranking and winding it's probably the gears. Gears need to be changed as a pair not individually.
Feel free to give me a call if I can help.
