Fishing Oroville Lake 05/25/2016

Post by Tom Gronwall »

Took my son Jesse fishing, one of our two trips each year. He's not a fisherman, but loves to see the lake and catch fish now and then. We did a lot of sightseeing of the lake, more then fishing. Started in the south fork, went as far as the bridge. He's not a rubber man, so set him up with night crawlers on a Carolina rig. Worst part was, me having to bait the hooks, take all the fish off hook, he can't stand touching either! and un-stick his hang ups on the bottom. Fished an hour or so, caught a couple small 12-13" large mouth and a few spots and decided to go to the end of the middle fork. At 21mph, this takes some time in my boat. Went to where the middle fork turned to river, just far enough to see the water fall, beautiful area. We fished about another hour and managed to catch 18 fish total, with him getting the biggest of the day, just shy of 15" Doing some serious fishing next week.
