Heddon Zara Spook Switchout

Post by kwikfish »

What is the best hook size to use on the Super Spook in 5" 7/8 oz? 1/0 or 1 or 2 ?

I've used Owner ST-36s in the past. Dangerous hooks to deal with!

I like to use front and rear hook locations only for my own reasons. Not worried about losing a fish, etc.

Thanks.

front and rear hooks only is the correct set-up. I use #2 hooks for largies and if fishing for strippers I use extra strong 1's or 1/0's just make sure it is at least a 3x hook if you are targeting these.

Thanks.

For some reason, it looked like the 1/0s were a bit big but as long as it doesn't impede the action of the lure, why not go with the bigger hook, right?!

Thanks.

Just be sure you upgrade your setup with the bigger hooks so you can get a good hookset.

ST36s are the right hooks, just make sure you change out your split rings as well. Just in case that giant grabs on!
