Minn Kota TMs whats the difference ?

Re: Minn Kota TMs whats the difference ?
The Ultrex foot pedal is heel tow steering like cable steer trolling motors. Not sure if its actually controlled by cables or the pedal is electric but instead of being flat it's heel tow control.
Ulterra is electric steer which most bass guys don't care for.

So if I read it right the ultrex has everything the ulterra has except stow/deploy and height adjustment. But has cable steer. Too bad it didn't come with those also. It would have been the perfect TM
So as an old guy that fishes by himself it hard to choose between launching with stow/deploy and cable steer in tight spots

One more question ? All 3 of my current trolling motors have some rust. I fish freshwater but it maybe a little brackish . Is it worth it to go with a saltwater model ?

i can't find if the ultrex is a SS model.
you can call minnkota and have them give you
more info on them. 1.800.227.6433
i can tell you from a service aspect i've
only had 1 ultera in so far, it was 1 of the first
motors that came out, and 1 of his magnets that
lift the motor fall out. but they do make a SS ultera.
add a couple $100 to the price but you'll never have
any rust on it. that's your call.
i'm a 70 year old bass fisherman and i like the ultera to
try, but i love my fortrex 112. it's a super motors.

Thanks all for the info.
I had my knees replaced and Back operated on so I was looking at being able to launch and spot lock while I parked the truck as the main reason for the stow/deploy model and in rough waves siting in the back and having spot lock for fishing brush piles seemed like it would be nice. Catch a fish drop in live well and not have to climb up on front deck all day
Thanks again
