After all was weighed and tabulated, Robin Oh of Valencia took 1st place honors with a 5 fish bag weighing 10.66 lbs. Robin was crowned CA State Champion Co-Angler last week at the TBF National Semi Final at Lake Havasu and won a CBF tournament at Castaic in 2016 – he has built some serious momentum. Robin reported catching his fish on Keitech swimbaits, shallow early and deeper later in the day.
Soon Chul Lee came in 2nd with 4 fish weighing 10.05 lb, including a 4.42 kicker fish. Soon reported that he could not get bit on a crank/jig pattern so he made a change to drop shot which is how we caught his fish. Soon reported losing a couple of 3 pounders that spit the hook and cost him back-to-back CBF wins.
Jerry Ballesteros had the 3rd biggest weight with 4 fish weighing 9.50 lbs. Jerry reported catching his fish on a variety of baits including crankbait, jig, and dart head.
‘Big’ Jim Scott brought in Big Fish of the tournament. Jim commented that his pattern was to keep hoping and praying for a big bite – and his prayes were answered with a 4.93 largemouth which bit on a jig.
