You could make a case that the bass at Pyramid have started the big move up to shallow water. It is still almost impossible to see ‘em because the water is still mud stained (although it has started clearing up). But it is easy to believe when you see water temp that had risen to the mid-to-upper 50’s coupled with the results from 3/12/17 CBF Region 7 tournament.

Soon Chul Lee took 1st place honors with 5 fish weighing 13.14 lbs. Soon reported catching his fish on crankbaits in shallow water 5’ or less. Soon now has 1st, 2nd, and 1st place finishes this year and takes a commanding lead in the AOY race heading into the final tournament of the year.

Marvy Tutson took 2nd place with a 5 fish bag that went 11.88 lbs. Marvy reported catching his fish shallow on variety of small Keitech swimbaits. Marvy added that when he ran out of 1 size/color and then he and draw partner Dejon Lewis would dig around and find a different size/color- and continue to get bit.

Jason Hemminger brought in a 5 fish limit that weighed 11.14 lbs for 3rd place. Jason reported catching his fish drop shotting shallow water, 2’ or less, with an undisclosed worm.

George Fedor won Big Fish honors with a 5.03 lb largemouth that he caught on a shaky head.

Region 7 anglers were once again fortunate to be treated to a delicious and much appreciated lunch that was hosted by BBQ master Pete Graves. Thank You Pete!

The 4th and final tournament of the year for CBF Region 7 will be on 5/6/17. The venue for this tournament is in the process of being changed from Pyramid to Castaic. The change will be official after the permit is approved.

CBF Region 7 sends a big Thank You to its sponsors:
