Verado Prop

Post by jsc11700 »

Hey guys,

Curious if any one is running a BRAVO on a Verado and what pitch you are running? I have an 07 Z20 with 225 Verado. Currently running a 25P Tempest. Getting good Top End Speed and lift but it's sluggish out of the hole especially with a buddy and full live wells. Looking to get better hole shot and handling and willing to sacrifice a couple MPH top end.

Thanks!

I'm running a 26 Bravo on 250 Verado, Bass Cat. It's worked great getting out of the hole and top end speed is good.

Superneal,

What is your top end RPM with the 26P?

I am running a 25 tempest on a 250 Verado mounted on a triton 21x and its good all the way around, Have you tried removing a plug or two out of the tempest? Those plastic inserts can be removed and it lets more exhaust out in front of the blades and helps the prop gain rpm faster and can help your hole shot.

Scott,

I have played around with the plugs a bit but haven't completely removed any. Maybe I will try that. I was under the impression just from dock talk that the Verado really liked all the holes plugged.

I am running a 26 Bravo I on a 2006 Ranger Z21. I sent it to Phills Props and had it worked over and it gave me a couple mph for top speed of 65. I got a great hole shot for such a big boat. Everything I have read recommends the Bravo. Minimum, I recommend sending to Phills. They change the cup and angle a little if I remember correctly.

Just an update for any others out there with Verado's who might have been following this. I played with the Prop vent holes. Having an open hole or two does make a difference in hole shot. Had a tourney last weekend and after putting in one large hole and two small ones my boat jumped out much quicker with full gear, livewells, and partner. This goes against what "I've heard" about the Verado. In my case with a 25p tempest it does indeed make a difference.

Awesome! A much cheaper alternative to re-working or buying props. Thank you for the update! Tight lines.
