Another fantastic turn out as 33 teams worked their way into the Marina Café for the fifth stop on the 2017 RTF tour. With a high-pressure system and howling winds the team of Brian Evans and Matt Newman recognize pretty early in the morning that this would be a difficult challenge. Making a crucial decision around noon to bear down and fish flooded brush with a drop shot plastic worm they were able to grind out 17.58 pounds of bass and a narrow victory over veterans Bobby Nelson and Billy Nelson and get their second win of the season collecting $2,250.00 in cash for their days work. Just a mere .10 pounds separated the two as Bobby and Billy had to settle for second place with 17.48 pounds but did take home a whopping $2,020.00 in cash for their effort. Rounding out the top three were Chris Hagen and Ryan Hagen as they put together their first top three finish on the RTF Tour and collected $570.00 in cash for their days work. Chris Chandler and Dave DeLucca slid into fourth Place winning $210 in cash. In fifth place where is the team of Tyson Gustavsson and Sean Frakes and they collected $210 in cash. In sixth place collecting the Spencer MaKenzies Fish House $200 cash award was the veteran team at Ken Vanderburg and Stan Vanderburg with 15.58 pounds. Finishing in seventh place were the champions from our last tournament Paul Ramsey and Matthew Lindsey as they collected $160 in cash. In eighth place was the father-son team of Roger Understiller and Ryan and Understiller and they collected $160 in cash. In ninth place were Casitas superstars Doug Frasco and Don Smith as they had 15.88 pounds and collected a $50 gift certificate from our great sponsor Anglers Marine. And rounding out the top 10 where Cody Cook and Parker Marquez were 14.61 pounds and they collected an Anglers Marine $50 gift card. With the victory Brian Evans and Matt Newman take a stronghold on the 2017 RTF Angler of the Year race holding a nine point lead over the number two ranked Bobby Nelson and Billy Nelson.
